Assignment 1 | THE TORUS

Image
Week 3 began with the introduction on how to construct the Torus, a fabrication which involved making a reverse curve. The reverse curve was surprisingly challenging to achieve. Once the sheet of aluminium was curved in one direction, shaping the middle of the sheet into a curve in the other direction was hard because the aluminium would begin to flatten out again.  I overcame this with persistence in striking the middle slowly and more delicately in order to achieve a curve whilst not flatting the entire sheet.  Overall, I found the Torus a fun and enjoyable construction, due to the challenges it provided me and the final finished product which I am satisfied with.

Assignment 1 | THE BOWL

This exercise involved the fabrication of a bowl made from Aluminium.                       Overall, I found this task enjoyable as it is something I have never done before and it was satisfying to transform a flat sheet of metal into a purposeful bowl.                                                                                                                                                                       I am missing photographs of the bowl during the fabrication stages, however below are some images of the finished product!
